Jamie and I bought Cassafuir back in September 2014 and have spent every month since working hard to build a home for ourselves, improve the land and our environment here, build our deer herd, create a seriously versatile conference space and offer you the opportunity of coming to stay in one of the most beautiful corners of Scotland.
Its rural location offers a true escape which is only one hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow. In 2019 we decided to add two Luxury Glamping Pods to our farm to let others share the amazing wildlife and views we have.
In terms of our farm, we take great pride in running a tidy operation. We have a herd of 170 red deer hinds, supplying both venison and breeding animals into the deer farming sector. With modern buildings and handling systems, we routinely host open days and training events and we are becoming well known in the Scottish farmed deer arena.
The farm itself is 160 acres and lies on a South facing hill, just in the foothills of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park (LLTNP). Cassafuir rises up to 450ft at Loch Rusky from where you can enjoy a spectacular 360 degree view across the Carse of Stirling to the South and the mountains of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to the North.
In nurturing the land we own and looking after our environment you can see an almost unprecedented array of wildlife here. We built a fabulous hide up on stilts where you can access and watch it all for yourself, photographing some of Scotland’s finest and in some cases, rarest of species. You can watch roe deer and wild red deer walking through, or marvel at the ospreys fishing on the loch. If the osprey are away, there are always red kites, buzzards, kestrels, curlews, lapwings and many others to see.
Over the coming years we will begin our tree planting plans to create even more of a safe haven for our wild animals.
